The Legacy of The Boys’ Brigade
& The Girls’ Brigade Tawau

The story of the 2nd Tawau BB Company (Coy) began in 1985 at St. Patrick’s Anglican Church. With the guidance and training of officers from the 3rd Kota Kinabalu Coy, the company held its historic first parade and recruitment in 1986. Recognising the need for a parallel ministry for young women, the 3rd Tawau GB Company was established in 1991. 

Both companies flourished until 1993, when they temporarily paused operations as St. Patrick’s Church transitioned into a Cell Church structure. A new dawn broke in 2005 following a nationwide shift by the Ministry of Education to recognise school-based uniformed groups as official co-curricular activities. Both BB & GB companies were restructured and resumed at St. Patrick’s Secondary School whilst remained under the sponsorship of St. Patrick’s Church.
