Blessed Father’s Day

… being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6) 

Fatherhood is not a finished product but a journey of daily dependence on God. Many fathers feel pressured to have all the answers, never fail, or always display strength, but God meets us in our inadequacies. Philippians 1:6 gives us an assurance of God’s gracious and progressive work in our lives until completion.
 
This calls us to embrace a “work in progress” mindset: replacing shame over failure with humble dependence. When we stumble, let us be quick to confess, seek forgiveness, and change to the way that pleases God. In this manner, we also model and indirectly teach our children more than flawless performance ever could. Pray specifically and expectantly, bringing our parenting worries and goals to God and asking him to shape our patience, integrity, and courage, believing God will move even when change is slow.
