Bishop’s Prayers in Confirmation

"Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit." (Acts 8:17) 

Confirmation is celebrated as a significant milestone of a believer characterised with vows and prayers. The service of laying on of hands on the believer follows the tradition of profound apostolic faith and spirituality. The prayer of confirmation is not a mere formality. It is a powerful, intentional invocation of God’s grace, sealing a young believer for a lifetime of faith. 

When the confirmand takes his vows (promises), it marks the transition from an inherited faith to a personal one. The prayer asks God to take the seeds planted in childhood and turning "the faith of our parents" into "my personal walk with Christ."
